Hope all you students had a great year. Parents too. And everybody else for that matter.
I’m psyched for summer, myself. My little girl is finishing first grade and we’re going to be doing a lot of traveling. (Because I just didn’t get enough of it on my book tour. Yeesh) The most exciting trip will be to Italy for two weeks. (Let the pasta-load begin) I plan on taking lots of books . . . it’s a long plane ride.
What’s on your reading list for this summer? (Don’t feel compelled to say my books because I’m sure if you’re reading this you’ve read them all already, right? RIGHT?)

Alex says:
…I’ve got to read 2 books for high school summer reading.. The Secret Life of Bees and Peace by the River, I think. I hate reading for school though, I always procrastinate. But yes, D.J., I already read your books, but I have yet to get your “Before the war” traveler books. Can’t wait!
Pendragon/Twilight Fan says:
I’m gonna read my Twilight books over and over, hopefully for my birthday I can get the Pendragon books. D.J. make sure you visit THE fountain in Italy for luck. Oh, and don’t forget, they have a lot of cheese there.
Pendragon/Twilight Fan says:
D.J., I have a quesion for you, please. Will you make a series after Morpheus Road? I haven’t started that series (YET) but I look forward to it.
Erich says:
Well I haven’t read all your books because work and high school make you busy. If I find time in college I will read the rest. I’ve read all the Pendragon books though, great series by the way. Currently my Sister who just Graduated College with a Writing Major is having me read her story because she hopes to get it published, like any other writer. Hope all goes well on your trip! Eat some extra Italian for me, cause it’s my favorite!
Bronson Goodman says:
Books you should READ!!! I started reading a bunch of different books! first of all The Gatekeeper series by Anthony Harowitz is really awesome! The Leven Thumps series! The Fablehaven series! of course these are all fantasy types! Which i thought you might like! But How about The Bourne Series, or the Henry Parker series, or the Cross Series! All of these are my favorite Action packed books!
6969 says:
Wow Italy. Nice.I’m also going to Europe(but mostly in Poland) I’ve got a lot of books on my list. I’ve read all ten Pendragon books but still have the prequels and guide to read. I’m in the middle Freefall, which is in the Tunnels series. the books get better and better, (if you don’t get confused with the first book that is
)
I also have Ranger’s Apprentice 4-8 to read, Morpheus road, and maybe Fablehaven.
I might get started with the second book of Ember, which I think is great.

Cass says:
i just got out of school….i have a lot to read! i dont even know which ones i wil read, because i read so much! i definitely need to finish the book im reading now, which is The Necromancer by Michael Scott…its a part of a series. Im going to read the new special edition of the Warrior cat books coming out, as well as the newest Ranger’s Apprentice book, and Mockingjay, the last book in the HUnger Games series. But most exciting of all…..Im going to re-read the whole Pendragon series, even the before the war books. I own every book, so i wont have to go to the library. Im going to start reading them again, the day i got the first one (July 8th of last year. pretty creepy that i know that, but i remember partially because i was still in maine at our summer beach house, when michael jackson died, and i got it a little less than a week after at the portland mall.) i love your books. i almost cried at the end of the books (and i never cry) and for some odd reason, whenever i hear the song Already Gone by Kelly Clarkson, i just always get into a Pendragon mood and start thhinking about Bobby and Loor. thanks for writing the books
Ashley says:
I have to read three books for school… The Grapes of Wrath, Animal Farm, and my choice book (which I think I’ve officially decided is The Sound and the Fury…). Other than that, I’m reading the last two books in the Left Behind Series, Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell by Susanna Clarke (for the third time. I HIGHLY recommend it), Deception by David Alcorn, then finishing the rest of my Tamora Pierce novels… I’m running out of books to read. I expect that to last me through July. To the Library!

Tea Spoon says:
I’m going to read the last book of “The Farseer Trilogy” (Robin Hobb). It’s a very great story, one of my favorites books!
I’ll also read “Pirate Latitudes” by Michael Crichton (a story about Pirates as you probably guessed. Nice to read it when you are on the beach!)
And some french books like “L’enchanteur” by René Barjavel, and “Le Voleur d’Ombre” by Marc Levy… But I don’t know if they’re translate in english.
What about you D.J?
Hoyt says:

I gotta everything you wrote and read them all!!! I have to finish the last three books of pendragon because of complications with the school library (aka they couldn’t get the books unti the very end of the year gggrrrr) I have to read This I Believe and Lord of the Flies because of this school program I’m in. Oh yes I have homework during summer, how sweet is that…..but i already read Quillan but i have to reread it to refresh and everytime i come to a scary part (which is on every freakin page of that book) I freak out and wonder what happens next. Then i remember i already read the book, but it doesn’t matter. Everything around me disappears and i feel like I’m right there with Booby or Courtney. (if you didn’t notice, I LOVE Saint Dane)
Katie says:
Well, since I am one of the writers/artists at the movie site (that Saint Kane has said he told you of) I am rereading the entire series, along with the Wicked Lovely Series (Melissa Marr), House of Night series, and just about anything else I can get my hands on. I also plan on rereading the Gone Series and Beautiful Creatures…. there are too many books to list! I’ve pretty much been reading non stop since my school got out in early June… I think I was out and done with finals the… tenth.
Andrew says:
Gotta be honest with you DJ. Harry Potter and Percy Jackson. I already did read all of your books! THEY WERE GREAT!

Hannah says:
I HAVE to finish Raven Rise!!!!! I haven’t been reading Pendragon lately (too much homework), though I look forward to reading Pendragon, book ten: The Soldiers of Halla. Can’t wait!!
AddictedToTheWrittenWord says:
Now that school is out, all I want to do is read. There’s nothing I’d rather do anyway. I’m so disappointed that I only have one Pendragon book left to read!! I have to say, D.J., I’m awed at how well you can write! Oh, the characters have so much depth- and Saint Dane is so horribly evil and the words just reach into your soul! And- I’m getting carried away, aren’t I? Sorry. Where was I? Ah, yes, summer reading list. Well, I hope to finish “The Soldiers of Halla” really soon (I need to buy it first, gonna die until I get it!) then I can’t wait to read “Morpheus Road”. Hopefully I’ll get some writing done of my own book over the summer as well

spader5 says:
Hey, Mr.MacHale, can you possibly think of sort of expanding the Pendragon series? I have read every Pendragon book, including the traveler books. I was just wondering if you could make a book about Saint Dane, Press, and the other Solara guys before Bobby.
First Earth Traveler says:

John says:
To be honest, I just read The Soldiers of Halla today. I bought it, lost it, then found it, then was too busy with school, then lost it again (hoping nobody from forum times reads this -.-). So, that was pretty much my reading list for the summer lol. Well, except for the new Artemis Fowl book coming out in August, I guess.
After I finished reading Raven Rise, I was confused beyond words. And I’m glad to know the series ended the way it did, though it took me a few readthroughs of the last pages for me to figure everything out. It’s been a magnificent journey through Halla over the last few years, and I just wanted to thank you, Mr. MacHale, for giving us the pleasure to read your books. I look forward to reading Morpheus Road and other books by you in the future
****Spader Gal**** says:
morpheous road was amazing!! ahhhh it was great! i was a bit freakd out at some parts though…(dnt wnt to be a spoiler so ill just say that the part with blood scared me) lol it was freaky though haha

Isabeau says:
I’m reading The Percy Jackson Series (starting book 2) and I’ll be reading Inkheart and a bunch of the other books people listed on here that i had never heard of. Take care and have fun in Italy!
Zadaa Ghee says:
Well, I’m hoping that the 4th book in Eragon will be out soon, I will be starting the 2nd Lord of the Rings soon, and the 3rd, need to finish the 4th and read the 5th in Percy Jackson and the Olympians, and I need to re-read all of the Harry Potter books to prepare for the 7th movies(yes, plural), which I hope will be as awesome as the book. Not sure it will last me the whole summer, though.
Zadaa Ghee says:
Oh, wait! I forgot some. I still need to read The Hobbit(precedes The Lord of the Rings), The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flammel.
I’m surprised to see how many people here haven’t read Harry Potter or Septimus Heap!! Septimus Heap isn’t as popular as Harry Potter, but I’ve read them, and they were very good.
P.S. OK, Maybe (just maybe) it will last the whole summer!
Isabeau says:
Zadaa Ghee: I’m doing the same thing with Harry Potter. I finished the whole series when I was 9 (i’m now 13) so I’m re-reading them to be prepared for the seventh movies. I’m leaving the 5th through the 7th to read sometime in September or October.
Isabeau says:
The site just got really quiet over the last week, come on people! keep conversing! lol
Zadaa Ghee says:
I’m not sure when I finished them. I was either 9 or 10 (pretty sure 9) and I’m now 12. but the Harry Potter books are pretty much on the bottom of my reading list, so I probably wont get to all of them, but I’ll try. there’s still all that other stuff to read.
britt says:

Ashley says:
Pretty much done with my reading list… Not much else left. I really need to get to the library. All I have now is my current book, one after that, then emptiness while awaiting the next amazing novel to come out from any one of the authors I’m keeping watches on. DJ, too bad you can’t release The Black a little early…
That post was pretty much a waste of space, but figured I’d help this place gain one more post.
~Ash
