I had a request to start a blog where you could weigh in on thoughts about a movie based on The Merchant of Death and to discuss casting. This isn’t to say that a movie is imminent. It isn’t. But I’m working with some folks to develop one now, so you never know. (Just don’t hold your breath!)
So, here’s the blog. Have fun.
Claire Bernard says:
I really do hope you make a movie, except that sometimes the movies ruin the books. Take the Hunger Games for example. It was a great book to some people and they were really psyiced about the movie; but when those people watched the movie they hated it. This led to hatred toward the book. Some movies turn out pretty good though, such as the Harry Potter movies. I am excited that you are thinking about making a movie but I’m also a bit worried. Good luck though! By the way I would love to audition for a part!

Yeah. I haven’t been on in a while…
Robert Pendragon says:
Maize , known in many English-speaking countries as corn, is a grain domesticated by indigenous peoples in Mesoamerica in prehistoric times. The leafy stalk produces ears which contain seeds called kernels. Though technically a grain, maize kernels are used in cooking as a starch. The Olmec and Mayans cultivated it in numerous varieties throughout Mesoamerica, cooked, ground or processed through nixtamalization. Beginning about 2500 BC, the crop spread through much of the Americas.The region developed a trade network based on surplus and varieties of maize crops. After European contact with the Americas in the late 15th and early 16th centuries, explorers and traders carried maize back to Europe and introduced it to other countries. Maize spread to the rest of the world because of its ability to grow in diverse climates. Sugar-rich varieties called sweet corn are usually grown for human consumption, while field corn varieties are used for animal feed and as chemical feedstocks. Source Wikipedia
Saint Dane says:
I’m sure that now you understand the importance corn is to your Second Earth society.
Robert Pendragon says:
I’m am also sure that you now know your plan would never work. There are many different varieties of corn. Not all of them could be poisoned and if some of them where people would find a vaccine for the poison as quickly as they could when people start to die.
Robert Pendragon says:
I am*
CourtneyChetwynde13 says:
@GOCLORAL
yeah it’s hard to keep up with all the stuff
Emma says:
My brother will play Bobby. He looks exactly like him and is a great actor.
My older brother wants to be Alder.
I will be Nevva or Ester Aramden (is that spelled right?) the singer from book 3
My youngest brother didn’t want to be left out so I told him he could be Loque.
Aja will be played by my friend who looks and acts exactly like her.
And Morgan Freeman will be Gunny
Tribbun and Ribbon says:
Is anybody else from canada or is it just me?
CourtneyChetwynde13 says:
And I will be Courtney
Grrrrr I’m sick today
Saint Dane says:
@CourtneyChetwynde13
Get well soon.
CourtneyChetwynde13 says:
And we just lost out basketball game 🙁
Nevva Winter says:
I’m back! Sorry I haven’t been on for a while.
What’s up?
Anything new?

My basketball team hasn’t won a game all year
cheimerman says:
Been a while since I read the series, Haha. I’m a great actor I guess but I want a minorish role so… Could I be Mark
CourtneyChetwynde13 says:
@cheimerman
haha that’s not really a minorish role
Emma says:
A minor role would be like LaBerge. Someone who might only have one or two lines.
LaBerge’s one line: “I love clowns!”
Or maybe one of the gangsters from book three. They don’t even have names.
HugeFan says:
I think making this book into a movie would be a fantastic idea. With the right cast and crew this movie could be great and promote the books even more. With such great books a movie is absolutely needed. This is a great idea and should definetely be acted upon. I think many fans would love to be an active part in this, so I think you should hold open auditions for little people like us to audition for the characters we hold so dear to our hearts. We support you the whole way. Hobey Ho
Emma says:
A movie would be fun, but after reading the tenth book, I’m on the side that a movie shouldn’t be made. It’ll attract too many “fake” fans and the movie will choose what the characters look like for us. Also movies tend to leave out certain parts.
If a movie was made, however, I think everyone (including me) would want to be able to audition for it.
MWS says:
I would love to see a Pendragon movie made. I have been a fan of the series since middle school. Instead of making individual movies, why not do a ten-part mini-series, with each episode being about a different territory. This way, we get to see all of the stories on screen, without the fear and risk that comes from trying to create a movie franchise? I would love to see the Pendragon series on screen in any fashion.
CourtneyChetwynde13 says:
Yeah i think the actual fans should definitely have some input in the movie
CourtneyChetwynde13 says:
we survived the end of the world guys!
Saint Dane says:
@CourtneyChetwynde13
Too bad. I was looking forward to the Mayan Apocalypse. It looks like your Esrth territory has been spared once again.
CourtneyChetwynde13 says:
@Saint Dane
Yup and your plans have been messed up once again
Robert Pendragon says:
Hey, Saint Dane? Did you know something? If the Mayans really predicted the end of the world Third Earth would have never existed.
Saint Dane says:
@Robert Pendragon
That’s true. Why didn’t I think of that? Your territory still has a few thousand more years, then.
Robert Pendragon says:
Merry Christmas!
CourtneyChetwynde13 says:
Yep
Nevva Winter says:
Yeah Merry Christmas everyone!
CourtneyChetwynde13 says:
HO HO Ho Ho!
Lol
Em says:
Does anyone else think it would be funny to see SD dressed up as Santa?
CourtneyChetwynde13 says:
YEAH it would. He would need to be fatter though
Em says:
And a beard and red coat.
Em says:
But if this is Saint Dane be can just shape-shift into Santa.
Siry Remudi says:
Hey guys! What have you been up to since we beat Saint Dane
Robert Pendragon says:
Not much really just trying to stop him from poisoning the earth’s entire corn crop.
CourtneyChetwynde13 says:
Do you guys like R5?
Nevva Winter says:
@CourtneyChetwynde13
I never heard of them
A Dedicated Fan says:
I think a film version of Pendragon would be gripping and breathtaking. To see Mr. MacHale’s visionary tale come to life on screen would be fascinating to witness. I don’t have any ideas in mind for casting as of yet, but can we all just take a moment to picture Daniel Day-Lewis as Saint Dane? #brilliance? #yes. Also, I think a fresh face as Bobby Pendragon would do wonders for the screen. After all, how many films can Hollywood make utilizing the same actors over and over again? I find it particularly intriguing when a new actor can light up the screen and bring a new charisma to a character that has yet to be introduced in a medium other than literature. I think this story is one that could captivate a wide range of viewers. There really is something there for everyone. I think it would be amazing to have the opportunity to audition for a film like this and if I ever see a casting notice about it, I can promise that I will be in attendance! Good luck, Mr. MacHale. I truly hope Bobby’s story hits the big screen one day 🙂
Tribbun and Ribbon says:
Sorry i haven’t beeen on in a while! I’m back now!! I’m with Emma because i’m not entirely sure i want a movie. I’m scared it will get a lot of “fake” fans like she said! We don’t want another hunger games catastrophe…….. but I also would really love to see it in a movie! I’m conflicted!
Em says:
Or like the Percy Jackson books… The books were great, but it didn’t translate well into a movie at all.
CourtneyChetwynde13 says:
@Nevva Winter
You should look them up on YouTube
Nevva Winter says:
@Em
yeah the books were really good but the movie wasn’t as good as the books.I heard the second movie will come out this year.
Em says:
I’ve been hearing rumors about a Pendragon TV series… what do y’all think? I think it might be better than a movie. Maybe.
Nevva Winter says:
yeah it would be good
CourtneyChetwynde13 says:
Yeah i think it would be the best way to go
Tribbun and ribbon says:
I think a tv series would be good if they make sure to end it when it has to. We can’t have random episodes that have nothing to do with the books at all
Tribbun and ribbon says:

Tribbun and ribbon says:
Oops sorry
Robert Pendragon says:
Yeah. A t.v. series would be great. The filler episodes could be Mark and Courtney’s life though. Those would be fine if the random episodes were them and directed by D.J. himself.
