I had a request to start a blog where you could weigh in on thoughts about a movie based on The Merchant of Death and to discuss casting. This isn’t to say that a movie is imminent. It isn’t. But I’m working with some folks to develop one now, so you never know. (Just don’t hold your breath!)
So, here’s the blog. Have fun.

LOL thomas its cuhz yuu typed 8 ) and if yuu take out the space it turns into 8)
denduron!!! says:
I agree that Robin Williams would be good as Press! He is just the right age and has that kind of look.
denduron!!! says:
8)
Sahar says:
Yayyyy!!! I’ve always wanted to see a pendragon movie! 🙂 Personally, I think there ought to be a movie for every Pendragon book. I’m not sure how you can squish all those books into 1 movie.
denduron!!! says:
Well, I think that there would be a movie for each book. I also think that pendragon could be a short T V series, or a video game! The more Pendragon, the better! 🙂
Challenger Black says:
Yeah, most likely they’ll make each book into a movie.
Challenger Black says:
And I agree denduron…the more Pendragon the better! 🙂
Breanna says:
Pendragon movies would be a dream come true! I don’t have any ideas on casting yet… but I’ll keep my eyeballs peeled! And of course I hope it would be one movie for each book… then it would last a really long time 😀
Warrior says:
Yeah, it would be a dream come true!! 😀
Andy says:
Morgan Freeman couls make a good Gunny.(Is that his name? I forget who he is but i think he’s the traveler from first earth)
Lisa says:
Yup, Gunny is the traveler from First Earth and it seems like 99.9% of fans agree he’d make a great Gunny 🙂
Hobey ho!
Flight 29 downer says:
Ya it’s a dream come true, as long as there is NO Justin bieber and they stick to the books.
Hobey Ho
Lisa says:
I don’t think we need to worry much about that happening with Bieber.
As fans, we can have much confidence that D.J. wouldn’t let that happen because as Press would say, “This is the way it was meant to be.” 🙂
Hobey ho!

theresa says:
i would love a pendragon movie. ive wanted to play loor for the longest time. so if this does happen it would be awesome if i could audition. idk but it would be awesome to see how a movie would depict the books! 🙂
Julia says:
@Sahar, how did you get a picture as your icon?
Nic says:
Yeah!! Make a movie but you have to keep it just like the books!! I DONT CARE IF IT TAKES A MILLION DOLLARS OR YEARS!!! I JUST WANNA SEE THE MOVIE!!! Oh yeah and dont change any characters.
Nic says:
Keep it original!! But i do have one concern…how are u gonna make the people look? They have to be exactly like the descriptions in the books say they look like!! If they arent…im gonna come at u with meh stick of horror….from Quillan!!
Keyur says:
I would love pendragon to be a movie but I hope if it does come out it’s not like Percy Jackson cuas I was so mad that it wasn’t as good as the book
Alyssa Alarcon says:
I might be the unpopular opinion here, but I honestly don’t think that a movie should be made. Yes, the books are incredibly cinematic. Yes, you absolutely deserve to have something awesome made out of them. But I’m a film major and I know how royally the film industry messes up adaptations. The Pendragon books are easily my favorites and have been for many years. I would hate to see them end up with some barely related movie, a la most of the Harry Potter movies. And to be entirely honest, I think they would. There’s just too much detail throughout the series to be able to pack it in to a ninety minute movie. Especially when so much of the visual stuff would need to be done digitally.
Isaac says:
I think we should have johnny depp as Press
Kristina says:
I would love to audition for the part of Courtney. Im really athletic, play volleyball for 4 years in a club, look like her I believe, have read the books, and look like her i believe. I am so excited! !
Gingereyes says:
Personally I think Nathan Fillion would make for a perfect Press Tilton. The “main” characters (Bobby, Mark, Courtney) are more difficult to make suggestions for, due to the age.
Ginger says:
Yeah, having unknown actors play Bobby, Mark and Courtney (main characters) would probably be a good idea.
Fenem says:
I’ve been waiting for this since I read the first one. However, now that I’ve grown and seen what has happened to other books-to movie adaptations, I’m only for it it D.J is in it all the way and has a hand in the writing of the script. I think this will be different from other book-to-movies because he’s done film before, so he knows what it takes to translate his vision into film. Fear not fans, I think the author know’s one he’s doing when it comes to visual translation of his work.
Jessica says:
I agree with Fenem. This could be different from other book-to-movie adaptions. Having the author involved helps to keep things on track and assures it will come out decent.
Hobey ho, let’s go! 🙂
Morgan says:
Hobey ho!
Mike says:
While I agree with you, Fenem, there was already one author who translated his book into a movie. I don’t know if you’ve ever heard of him, but in England he is quite popular. Anthony Horowitz. While he has written some great book (and I’m being honest when I say that, in my personal opinion, yours are better, DJ), he penned the movie adaption to Alex Rider, book one, which was known as Stormbreaker (or rather, the movie was called Operation Stormbreaker in America). While enjoyable for kid who’ve not read the books, it was an absolutely cringeworthy movie that was panned by critics. Now I don’t know if that was down to Box Office takings or whatever, but still – the movie did not sell. So while I do have an incling of hope that this will by different, I also had an incling of fear that this will be – if done – no better than Stormbreaker’s movie breakthrough.
I will, however, say that I would absolutely 100.000% watch MoD if made into a big screen adaption. While I’m not sure if I’d like it, I’d still feel proud for you, DJ, to finally have one of your Pendragon books made into a glorious movie…even if it is unglorious…which I do not think it would be. It would be awesome.
So overall, I actually agree with you, Fenem, and wish you the best of luck with the hopeful movie adaption, DJ.
Sasha says:
I think a movie would be a great idea. Take the time to really capture the story and characters…and we could have something amazing here.
William says:
Maybe we should stop trying to think of well-known actors because whenever one is suggested, there seems to be a lot of people that have a problem with him/her. Except for Morgan Freeman. He has to be Gunny. I think DJ should have somebody (or even himself) draw the characters necessary and we send pictures in to see who is the best match. When we have it narrowed down that much, we can have auditions. Maybe it can even be funded by the Pendragon fans themselves.
William says:
Or at least partly funded.
John says:
morgan freeman should be gunnny.
John says:
is this going to be a movie where fans can go audition?
William says:
I’m gonna try to get in touch with DJ himself and see if it wouldn’t be too overwhelming to audition. So hopefully, it will, John.
Mozartghost says:
AH-HA!!!
Finally discussing a Pendragon movie again, are we?
Colin says:
If you make a movie, please, please, PLEASE make sure it isn’t a crappy medium budget b-film (Percy Jackson, most other movies made from a teen fantasy books, etc.) I think Pendragon is too well written and made for it to be tarnished with a sub-par movie. Ever since I read the first book in like 5th grade (I’m going into college now) I’ve thought a movie would be great for these books and I would kill to see it. This book has real potential to be a great movie, just take your time and make sure you’re proud of it DJ!
Jen says:
I agree, Colin. This series has so much potential to be great, if the time is taken to really capture what these books and characters are all about.
Hobey ho!
Josie says:
Morgan Freeman HAS to be Gunny. he would make SUCH A GOOD GUNNY!!!!!!
and i agree with u will, we should have (some) fans audition
Jen says:
Yeah, I don’t think there are any arguments against Morgan Freeman as Gunny.
Julia says:
What is Bobby supposed to look like? How old is he supposed to be? I’ve found someone (well actually I’ve known about him for a looong time but I’ve just now remembered him) that could possibly play Bobby. His name is David Sasik.
Copy and paste the link below into your URL to see his YouTube channel, him, and his acting skills.

Julia says:
^ Or just click it. I didn’t think it would actually show up in link form for you to click it.

Speaking of movies on Youtube, I myself happen to be an aspiring cinematic composer, and my hobby is making movies and writing soundtracks for them.
If you would like to see some of my copyrighted and published work, go to Mozartghost Studios at:

Things that can be seen there include all of the works I’ve mentioned previously that I was working on (And have now finished), my live concert at the Stevens Center, and Turt’s Wrath, a movie I made and wrote the music for.
And cool it is.
Endless Dreamer says:
I’d watch and support any movie that came out, but honestly, I don’t want to see it ruined like a lot of books that turn into movies, where the movies do no justice for it, or the movies leave out so much of the books. As far as actors and all that, I’m not entirely sure. I think honestly, whoever goes into those roles would have big shoes to fill for the fans. Might be better if they do a movie that’s animated or something. I will definitely say though, that when I was watching Avatar, and seeing the scenes with the florescent flowers and the water, all it was making me think of was Cloral. Maybe something along those lines? I’m not really sure,
Trevor Planet Films says:
Indubitably.
Laurie says:
Cloral would be so amazing on screen if done well and time was taken to really create the beauty and wonder of that world.
It’d be amazing seeing all the territories…but Cloral would be just downright magical 🙂
Hobey ho!
denduron!!! says:
I agree. Cloral Is the most colorful territory and would look amazing on the big screen!
Heather says:
I second that. Cloral is awesome!
