I had a request to start a blog where you could weigh in on thoughts about a movie based on The Merchant of Death and to discuss casting. This isn’t to say that a movie is imminent. It isn’t. But I’m working with some folks to develop one now, so you never know. (Just don’t hold your breath!)

I totally agree, but I didn’t know that Freddy from iCarly was nathen kress. He’s not what I imagined him exactly. I imagined him with Justin Beiber’s old hair, only brown. Then it would be an exact match!
I think that maybe some unknown people should play as the three main characters, and if you don’t know who they are, I’ll scream at you…
I think that all the younger travelers should be played by unknown people. Here is a full list of all my opinons of the “younger travelers and acolytes”

it would be sort of like the Harry Potter movies. The three main characters in that where unknown until they where in it, but look at them now! they’re famous!
I do not want to be any of the three main characters, I want to be Aja Killian. I wear glasses like her, I have blond hair that can be in a pony tail (it’s not right now), and I am smart, and I can memorize a script if I ever get one… (instead, I’m stuck with books, which I can’t memorize what people say before me, and what the line is when I say it… instead… I only barked about a million times as toto in the Wizard of Oz when I wanted to be a flying monkey…)

It could be great if Pendragon could take a similar approach, especially if it could all work out and whatnot.

So… if you could be any character in the movie, and you acted great, which character would you be, and why?

I think I’d like to be Nevva. She’d be a great character to play and I think it’d be fun to take a shot at her and see what could happen…especially because she’s so clever and devious in the later books.
If I had a second option, I’d love to be Twig (she’d be loads of fun) and I think it’d be awesome to be a Jakill 🙂

Jacob, another thing, DJ will post audition information to this blog, and possibly say something like this “if you wish to audition, please make a video, and e-mail it to this e-mail adress (example@example.com)” or something of that nature

I am ecstatic at the thought of a Pendragon movie! I’m one of those “from the beginning” fans of yours MacHale. My only plea is that you don’t leave any details out, Pendragon is too grand to have even the smallest of details left out. I completely love this series, i’m on the 9th book and i realy dont like harrypotter it gets old but if u make this movie and keep making a movie for each movie u will beat harry potter and make so much money

I think that a movie should be made but if one is eventually made it should be just like the book. Unlike some movies that say they are based off of a book but they actually only have the names of the characters, and plot. Then the rest of the movie has almost nothing to do with the book.

Also, this whole new actor thing isn’t always worth the trouble. Look at Lightning Theif. That didn’t work out so well. And the main reason people are saying it is because they think you might choose them. Just because you look similar to how you imagine a character to look, doesn’t mean your the perfect match.
If your going new actors, you need to be VERY picky about acting talents, and less focused on appearances. If you can’t find anyone quite up to snuff, take a look at whose already on the field. Take no chances.

I do agree with Brandon on what he says. It’s important to focus not only on one’s appearance, but on their acting skills and their ability to really become the character.

If there was to be a Pendragon movie, I would totally audition for a lot of the characters. I first read Pendragon in 5th grade and fell in love with the series then! I am going into 9th grade but I look younger than I actually am. If Merchant of Death becomes a movie, I wanna know when, and where are the auditions are so I can audition. I have read the whole Pendragon series about 5-10 times. I prefer Pendragon over Harry Potter :P. I know it may seem weird, but I would rather be Mark Dimond in the movies because I relate to him and I think I could totally play him beastly in the movies. But that’s just my opinion. Pendragon rules! 😀

I agree with one of the many posts up there. The Lightning Thief- what can I say? Absolutely HORRIBLE actors and actresses, by talents and looks.
As I said, Greyson Chance (I love im SO much!) for Bobby. He is 14 on August 16th, and I think he looks the part aswell.
No matter who are the actors/actresses, be picky! Do NOT be like the lightning thief!

There could be so much more to come out of the Pendragon series than a movie. Just think… there could be a pendragon video game, they could sell traveller rings, action figures, back packs, (a t.v. show?). I mean, a movie would be great, but pendragon could have an entire franchise. 🙂

As far as actors for the movie go, I think that the younger generation should be played by unknown actors, Jeff Bridges should play Saint Dane, Press should be played by the same guy who played Henri in I Am Number four, Osa should be Halli Barry, Gunny should be played by Morgan Freeman, and they should get someone really creepy to play Mallos.
