I had a request to start a blog where you could weigh in on thoughts about a movie based on The Merchant of Death and to discuss casting. This isn’t to say that a movie is imminent. It isn’t. But I’m working with some folks to develop one now, so you never know. (Just don’t hold your breath!)

OH!!! If there are traveler rings, they should be sold in packs, and work like wakkie-talkkies!! THAT WOULD BE SO COOL!!! you could put in a wireless headphone that is wirelessly connected to the ring, and you speak into the ring to tell information, and you listen through the headphones to get information! perfect if you’re playing spies (or whatever…)!
oh, i would own A DOZEN “Hobey Ho!” Shirts and jackets! IT’S BE SO AWESOME IF THEY MADE A JELYL-BELLY THAT WAS FLAVORED LIKE SNIGGERS!!! they have booger, grass, and even puke! SO WHY CAN’T THEY HAVE SNIGGERS?!?! sure, i’ll probably get sick, BUT IT’S WORTH IT!!!

They could also make a video game where you could play online with people. It would be cool if you could choose to be a traveller or an accolyte. Also, if your character died, you would have to go to Solara to regenerate. 🙂

I agree with Dale… Gunny should be played by Bill Cosby.
Bedoowan Knight #1, Grallion Farmer #3, Hotel Guest, Man Behind Counter, Running Gar, Man in Background, Blok Shopper in Aisle Three, The Beverage Vendor, Violent Protester, and Ravinian #7 should all be played by D.J. MacHale (you know, different characters with a little more screen time than others for each movie).

I would love to audition to be spader. if I remember right he is 18 correct? i have not read the books in a while. While i would love to be bobby or mark i would be to old to play them and spader is cool or to be a gangster in the never wars could be nice. 🙂

I have been waiting for this moment for years! I hope this movie really happens. I would seriously consider Jason Isaacs for the role of St. Dane. That would be my only casting suggestion, as he is great with changing his appearance so drastically.

When ever I imagined what the characters looked like I just went off the old covers of what Bobby and the rest looked like but with Spader I imagined Aqua Lad from Teen Titans xD

Hey guys just wanted to throw my two sense in on the matter. But before that I have to say I’m a huge fan and been one since early on in high school around when I was 15. Now I am 20 and picking up, after a couple of years of being in college, the sixth book cause I wanted to finish reading the series. At first I had some getting used to since it is a young adults read but I soon found myself reading a couple of hours at a time.
Back to the whole “movie” deal. As repeatedly stated above the Harry Potter movie series has come to a close this summer with its final cinematic performance. Myself I am a fan of J.K. Rowling’s story although I’ve never actually read the books. It seems to me that withing the next 3-5 years we should have another series of books that makes its way onto the silver screen. But what oh what is to be done? Pendragon. ‘Nuff said? I think so.
The story is different from when I remember being younger but my imagination literally swoops me off into the universe of Halla with all of its characters. I believe with the collective minds and optimism of those who would agree we can bring life to the Pendragon books as those did with Harry Potter. Hell I’ll admit when I first read the first book I did it so I wouldn’t seem rude to my aunt for buying me the trilogy. After I read the first chapter I was hooked like an alligator on a piece of rotten meat hanging on a hook from the tv show Swamp People. Which in layman’s terms means Pendragon was a staple in my literature reading. Back to the movie.
I’ve given it some thought but not too much, as I have college to deal with, about those who would cast the characters from the book. The only one I could think of was for Gunny’s character. Which I’m unfortunate to admit was Morgan Freeman. Not to say I do not like the actor its just I wanted to think of someone else rather than him but he fits the bill pretty well. But I do not make these decisions there is plenty of time, should there be a movie, to look around for potential individuals.
My last thing before I go is to D.J. MacHale. I do not know how you came up with this but you are a marvelous storyteller. You deserve the Pulitzer Prize for this work. Many would disagree it does not compete against writings such as the Grapes of Wrath or The Road but you’ve done a work of miracle here. Writing a book is by no means a small feat and to think of a universe such as Halla and those there within will live forever in our hearts. One day when I hope to have kids of my own I can share with them these books I myself have read. You’ve worked so hard already and I understand if you did not follow through with making a movie. Cause some books are meant to stay that way and no more. But please take in consideration my opinion, support and vote for a possible future production as well as the other well-spoken and friendly people her.
