Soldiers of Halla – Epilogue (SPOILER WARNING)

On the old forums I made a post about this, but since they no longer exist, I’ll write something again.

The final chapter of The Soldiers of Halla has been talked about and discussed quite a bit.   Some love it.   Others hate it.   Some understand it fully.   Others don’t get it.   I’m not going to explain it all here because I’d prefer that readers draw their own conclusions.   But I will make a few comments.   First off, I don’t consider the ending to be a cliff hanger.   Not even close.   The story is very clear about what is going to happen next, and that is that Bobby will soon go to Solara and Courtney will not be far behind.   To understand how the events described in the last chapter could have happened, you have to look at the end of the second to last chapter.   Bobby lamented to Uncle Press that after all they had been through, it seemed unfair that the Travelers were not being allowed to live the normal lives they fought so hard for.   All they wanted was a little bit of time to live those lives, which in the general scheme of Halla, wasn’t much   . . . and Uncle Press agreed with him.   How that was able to happen, and what all the implications are, I’ll leave that up to you to debate and decide.

I’ll say one other thing, and that’s about the guy who delivered Bobby’s journals to him in the hospital.   Short of actually writing his name, I pretty much described exactly who it was.   From the events that unfolded in the hospital room with Bobby and Courtney kissing and being interrupted, to his physical description, to Bobby recognizing him, to him saying that he had nine other journals to deliver, there is no other possible person that could have been…but Uncle Press.

    well, i just wanted to make sure people would like my story so i know that i should continue it. and do you hate the ending because you don’t understand it or are you just dissappointed because Loor wasn’t in it? and if you read that post you HAVE TO SAY SOMETHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! tell me what you think i should change to make it better or SOMETHING!!!!! and to have it your way i DID like the ending but i didn’t understand it at first. it all came together soon though.

  2. Lead Traveler says:

    people look on the older comments and tell me what you think of my story’s prologue. wether or not i should continue writing it.

  3. Traveler Koenig says:

    I ment Peter Jackson. The Director. He directed te remake of King Kong.

    A few suggestions for writing: (just to name a few)
    never use more than one exclamation mark
    never start a sentence with “but” or “and”
    not enough detail
    moves too quickly

    and now pertaining to the actual forum…
    I really loved the ending. I was thankful that Bobby didnt end up with Loor – i thought he should have been with Courtney since the first book. I kinda just stared at a wall for 20 mins after finishing the last book, remembering how absolutely amazing the entire series was. Ive read about 5000 books in my life, and i must say, with complete confidence, that this is the best series of all time. It was a great ending.

  4. Lead Traveler says:

    i was just trying to express my feelings with the double excalmations and stuff. and i went over it and i’m going to go over it again so it will hopefully be better.

  5. Traveler Koenig says:

    Well, you have a good plot idea so thats a good start =)

  6. Lead Traveler says:

    thanks. : )

  7. Lead Traveler says:

    what’s a Koenig? or is it just a name? if it is what does it mean? you don’t have to answer i’m just curious. you can if you want to though.

  8. Indigo-soon to be traveler says:

    Hello. What is this blog even about? I forgot and am to lazy to scroll back up. Yep. Sad. Don’t tell me. I know. Please someone answer any of my comments. It gets annoying being ignored…especially on something like this. SHEESH! Dang! I forgot what I was going to say…

  9. Indigo-soon to be traveler says:

    Oh and BTW it is not 1:24 P.M. Oh and D.J. Please come to Spokane, Washington! You must!

  10. Indigo-soon to be traveler says:

    COME ON PEOPLE!

  11. Traveler Koenig says:

    Koenig is a last name. Means “King” in German

  12. Lead Traveler says:

    ok. thanks.

  13. Larisa says:

    Okay I asked this question on the spoiler cause I didn’t know where to ask it :). How come Press is Bobby’s uncle and not dad, Siry it is his dad, Kasha it is her dad, Loor it is her mom, Spader it is his dad, Nevva it is her mom. That is all I know but this question has been really bugging me. ( I know pointless )

  14. Lead Traveler says:

    @Larisa
    don’t say that your question is pointless. all questions are good questions. well, to me i think that dj just chose random people(idk. i’m not him) and if you’ve read the 10th book then you know that it was originally Alexander Naymeer. but he turned into one of the bad guys, so, since Bobby’s family was already chosen and none of them were travelers, i think that Press and Osa, and those people made Press his unlce because that was the next closest thing to direct family(like brother, sister, dad, mom). well, that’s how i look at it. hope it helps. : )

  15. Larisa says:

    Lol, thank you 🙂

    OMG!!!!!!!!! I got started on pendragon when i couldnt decide what i wanted to read so i asked my beloved libraian and she suggested pendragon. I trusted her and checked it out. I opened it up to the first page and just kept reading. I couldnt put it down. The book was returned by Monday and i was reading the 2nd. I absolutly loved the books and couldnt get enough of Bobby and the other travelers! I was cheking the books out from my school liabray and was soon sad to discover that the library didnt have the next book. I made my dad drive me to Borders soo i could have it. It was then i also got the 1st book of the travelers. Then sadly i had to wait for Raven Rise and The soldierzs of halla. I slowly drifted away from willing the books to come out sooner. But every single book i read i thought “What would Bobby do?” Then a few weeks ago me and my Grammy were at the store and i saw raven rise. I made her buy it for me and within 3 days i had read all about Alexander Naymeer and Ravinia. I imideatly went on line and put The Soldiers Of Halla on hold in my local library. I loved it! i wish that the series was more than just 10 books!!!
    Now i am readin Morpheus Road and love every single time as much as the littlesest detail ties it to Pendragon. Like them living in Stony Brook. Or Graden Poultry fries, and the best having Mark Diamond work at the trphy shop! anyways i know this was long i just felt like i should share my amazing pendragon journey with you all! Hobey Ho!

  17. Lead Traveler says:

    cool. i wish my parents would buy the books for me. they stopped buying them at the 6th book and now i have to buy them with my own money, which comes only like 4 times a year, and some has to go into my savings account that my parents made me open, and then once i’m done with all that i discover that the books are $8.99 and i only have $5! it really sucks.

  18. Lead Traveler says:

    i don’t get paid much.

  19. Markus says:

    I get paid every week, but only half my age. Ex. im 16 so i get: $8. Im 10, i get $5. Im 13, i get 6.50. so on so forth.

  20. Traveler IV says:

    Ummm… Lead Traveler? Percy Jackson is a fictional character. The Peter Jackson that Traveler Koenig is talking about is a real person who directed some very famous movies (ie, Lord of the Rings).

    And his full name is spelled “Perseus”.

  21. Forteenth Traveler says:

    I got the books on my primary graduation and at first I thought “um… thank you… now where’s the real gift”, but then I stated reading the day after because there was nothing on TV and BANG! I ended it for the next day. I had recieved the first three from my gift, so I had to wait until my parents came back from a trip to Europe before I could ask them for the rest. they (eventually) got me 4, 6, 7, 8. Anybody notice the missing 5 in there? I got it in a trip to Alaska by pure luck at one chapter of finishing number 4, and I was overjoyed. How could I not be, when I had from 1 to 8. I finished them like an elephant eating a pea. the best tasting pea of his life. I then waited a long time for 9 and 10, because they are significantly harder to find, and when I my parents showed me my bithday present, I literally fainted. I finished 9 in a day and 10 in a week (holding back too much) and I ended them crying, knowing that there was no more to come. For me there is the Bible, and its near equal counterpart, the Pendragon Books. Oh, thank you, D.J. MacHale, for sharing your godly talents with us humble mortals.

  22. Lead Traveler says:

    @Traveler IV
    yeah. i found that out yesterday. just forgot to tell everybody that. and what i don’t understand is why Peter Jackson had to ruin the Percy Jackson movies when he did such a great job on The Lord of the Rings. just saying this, but,…. I LOVE LORD OF THE RINGS!!!!!!!!!!! no offense please dj

  23. Lead Traveler says:

    @Forteenth Traveler
    first off, why Forteenth? and what religion are you? if you don’t want to say, that’s ok. i was just curious.

  24. second traveler says:

    well this is so faar my fave book

  25. 2nd in comand lead traveler says:

    Well thats really nice i like this series

  26. Lead Traveler says:

    what’s your fav. book? and what are you talking about 2nd in comand lead traveler? sorry i like to know what other people are talking about so that i can join in and not be bored. has anyone read Skeleton Creek and watched the movies with it?

  27. N. says:

    Well, I thought the guy who walked into the hospital room was like a younger Bobby or maybe Patrick because I always thought that was how he looked. Apparently I was wrong.

  28. N. says:

    I read and watched Skeleton ” Lead traveler.” I thought they were good, until the end. It was too much of a happy ending and didn’t leave much of a mystery. The movies were OK. It didn’t seem as casual as other stuff.

  29. Lead Traveler says:

    @N.
    i just read Skeleton Creek. i still have to read and watch Ghost in the Machine. and i thoght that the cliffhanger on the first book was awesome and left plenty of mystery.

  30. N. says:

    It was the end of ‘The ghost in machine’ where the ending didn’t leave much of a mystery. Skeleton Creek was pretty cool too.

  31. Lead Traveler says:

    i have to admit that on the first video clip on Skeleton Creek when i first saw old joe bush- the graphics were great right?- i got soo scared i couldn’t bear to look at him for the rest of the videos. i couldn’t understand how Ryan could watch the videos over and over again, especially The Raven, that one scared the crap out of me, mainly because of the end of it. i suppose it wouldn’t scare him as much because he came face to face with it when the accident happened so i think he didn’t mind it as much. but i probably would’ve screamed or fainted or ran if i came face to face with old joe bush like he did. i’m not sure if it scared you or if you think i’m a sissy but that’s just me.

  32. Quig Hunter says:

    Some of the things in pendragon (best book ever) i cant imagine what it looks like… like a skimmer im completely lost on that one. When i finished pendragon i felt like screaming i couldnt believe what i just did D.J.Machale you are a GOD.
