Getting out of Trouble Town

Just turned in the latest draft of Morpheus Road:  The Black.  Yeah!  Ready for a little down-time.

Next month The Monster Princess publishes.  I know that most of you readers won’t be running out to get that because it’s a picture book, but if you know of some little ones…

We’ll be posting a book trailer on the site in a few weeks.

  1. LeBon says:

My lil brother might like it, lol… age group?

  2. D.J. MacHale says:

Depends on the reader, Lebon. I’d say that you could read it aloud to a 2-5 year old, and then after that a 6-7 year old can read it themselves.

  3. Laken says:

    That’s great, D.J.!

I can’t wait to get started on the next chapter of Morpheus Road. Seems like just yesterday I was all set and excited for the first chapter, and now the second chapter is almost here. Wow…where does the time go?

I’ll probably give The Light another read before The Black comes out, so I can refresh my mind and whatnot. A quick re-read is always a must for me! 🙂

  4. Isabeau says:

I agree with you Laken, I might re-read The Light.
By the way…you don’t live in NC by any chance do you? I might know who you are.

  5. Laken says:

Isabeau: Actually, I’m not in the States. I’m out here in Canada.

  6. Kyle says:

thats a good title it fits the story line so far the subtitle is cool to 🙂

  7. Kyle says:

    go canada

  8. Isabeau says:

Laken: Haha, okay, that’s still cool though. thanks for answering though, because I seriously thought you might be someone i know. 🙂

  9. Isabeau says:

So DJ…How is it in Italy? hope you’re enjoying a great vacation!
    God Bless and take care,
    Isabeau

  10. Creighton says:

I loved The Light. It was something different than what I was used to but I enjoyed it. I read it in a day! I couldn’t put it down! I am doing a book review on it for my honors English class next year. I have the utmost confidence that it will turn out great!

  11. Creighton says:

I am going to double post because I want to ask you if you are going to have any other appearances? It would be awesome if you could come near me … anyways … I know you’re busy. Thanks for the amazing books!

  12. Klaire says:

I think the old covers look better….

  13. Isabeau says:

DJ, I have a question for you…I was wondering if you’re a fan of “The Matrix” trilogy. just wondering cause there were a couple things that seemed to have similarities from different books you wrote with it. I love your books all the same though, my brother and i just had a bet…
    Thanks!

  14. Mr. Shadow says:

I was just curious about when the black might be hitting the shelves I just finished the light and went online to find out and couldn’t find a date. I was hoping you might be able to shed some light on the subject.

Also as some one who has read the entire Pendragon saga I couldn’t help but notice that Mark Diamond is mentioned a couple of times. This made me wonder if the Morpheus Road trilogy takes place before or after the Pendragon books, or even in a parallel universe to them.

  15. Jennifer says:

Ever since reading my copy of Morpheus Road from the SCIBA dinner, I’ve been dying for some word on the next installment. Congrats on finishing the latest draft. An word on when we’ll get to see it?

  16. Isabeau says:

it’s supposed to come out sometime next summer i think.
I’ve read all of the Pendragon, i liked how DJ put Cooper in the same town as Mark and Bobby. IDK about the whole Mark situation, but i think it was supposed to be the same time as when Mark had just quit his job there (in the 8th one?)

  17. Eleventh Territory says:

Sorry, I know this sort of an unrelated post, but in my copy of “The Quillan Games”, it says “Coming soon: Pendragon the Great”. I don’t know if that was just a separate name from “The Pilgrims of Rayne”, but if it was a separate book, would you, Mr. MacHale, consider posting it on the website?

  18. Travis Riverside says:

i will admit i havent red the pendragon books but im loving the morpheus road series i just cant wait for the next book to come out

  19. Isabeau says:

    Travis:
Dude, you gotta read Pendragon. It’s the best thing ever written!
And Morpheus Road of course, but you’ve already seen that

  20. Steve says:

I call my cousin Saint Damian (dont know the spelling to his name), and i am going to get my other cousin to read the first one (he is older then me).

  21. britt says:

    @eleventh territory

its the same book the title was just changed.

  22. Marina says:

What is your guy’s favorite book in the series?

  23. britt says:

i have no idea there all so good!!

  24. Marina says:

Yeah! I know! I love them! But I would have to say that my favorites are number three and number nine. I just love those!

  25. Wolfy says:

I can’t wait for this book to come out. I just finished reading The Light and once I started I couldn’t stop! I hope this one does the same thing!

  26. Marina says:

    Wolfy, is Morpheus Road scary?

  27. Mozartghost says:

    Is Wolfy short for Wolfgang???
    As in Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart?

  28. Marina says:

Who the heck is Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart?! :-\

  29. Mozartghost says:

How could you not know that?!
He was only the greatest Composer in all of history!

  30. Marina says:

Oh! I didn’t know his whole name. I just knew Mozart. Yes! I totally know who that is! Who doesn’t?

  31. liv says:

His whole name is kind of weird

  32. Marina says:

Yeah, I know. But luckly he’s mostly known my Mozart.

  33. liv says:

I wonder why they decided to name him that

  34. Marina says:

Yeah, I know. Who names their kid Wolfgang? It’s like: Come here little Wolfgang! Who does that?

  35. liv says:

Its sounds like your talking to a dog
    Wolfgang Here Boy

  36. Marina says:

    Lol! 😀 Yeah! Totally!

  37. liv says:

He must have had some different kind of parents

  38. Mozartghost says:

    Mozart’s wife called him Wolfy….
Did you know he died at the early age of 35?

  39. Marina says:

Yeah, I know. But I think it’s really cool how Mozart and Beethoven met. Who knew that two iconic composers would ever meet? Unfortunatley, Mozart died soon after that. It must have been fate!

  40. liv says:

    Yeah so sad

  41. Mozartghost says:

Beethoven had to leave from his visit with Mozart early, because his mom died….
Otherwise Mozart was planning to be Beethoven’s teacher.

  42. Marina says:

I know! Bummer, huh? Imagine what would have happened if Mozart had actually taught Beethoven!

  43. Marina says:

I know! Bummer, right? Imagine what could have happened if Mozart had actuallly been Beethoven’s teacher!

  44. Marina says:

Woah! How did two comments post?

  45. liv says:

I dont know but thats kind of kool
Anyway things happen and some times for the worst

  46. Evan says:

I just bought the light i cant wait to read it since the pendragon series are probably my favorite; it’s funny how conversations always turn weirdly first talking about reading the book and then getting all the way to talking about mozart i love it!!

  47. liv says:

yeah people are funny like that!!!!! so after you finsh reading it tell me if its any good i havent read it yet!!!!!!!!?????!!!

  48. Evan says:

ok sounds good i will read it fast because 1( i read fast) and 2(mockingjay comes out soon so i will be done before that comes out)

  49. Marina says:

  50. Evan says:
