Have you ever had a supernatural experience?

One of the scenes in Morpheus Road: The Light was  easy to write because I based it on something that actually happened to me.  I won’t go into detail here until after the book comes out (you know, spoilers) but I will say it has something to do with Marsh Seaver being home alone playing music. . . and hearing some very strange sounds.  What I wrote about in the book is pretty much exactly what happened to me, and I was never able to explain what it was, other than to believe there was something truly other-wordly going on.

Has anybody else had something spooky happen to them?  Only real stories, please.  No fiction.

I personally can not wait! I loved Pendragon, but I love great horror/ghost books!

  2. Devon Flores says:

Oops! Meant to post that in a different blog!

  3. Clark Donaldson says:

Once, I was home alone watching T.V. The door to the basement was right next to me in the room. I heard the door very quietly shake. It then repeated. Again, but louder until it was so violent and loud that it seemed as if someone was right there shaking it as hard as they could. At first, I thought it was the heater or something at but a heater couldn’t nearly break door off its hinges. I ran upstairs to my bedroom. I was totally freaked! THIS IS TRUE!

  4. Alex Kelly says:

Up until a few years ago, I lived in the same house as my grandma. My grandpa had died in that house, and my grandparents’ dog, Smokey. I recall the day that my grandpa died, a light switch turned itself on. the same day, the same thing happened to the tv. I remember one Halloween, I got up from the couch to get a glass of water and saw the shape of a dog out of the corner of my eye. I turned to look, but nothing was there. My grandma gave us her old couch when we moved out (the same couch that my grandpa would spend hours sitting on watching tv), and sometimes when I use it, I can smell the faint scent of cigarette smoke

  5. Thomas Howe says:

I’ve had a few, but only one is really freaky. I was lying on my bed, alone, and there was nobody else in the house, and I was seeing how long I could hold my breath. And then, through the silence, I heard deep breathing. In and out, in and out, in and out, slowly getting louder. It was totally freaky. After we moved houses, we found out that one of the previous owners had killed himself with a shot gun in my room, right beside my bed.

  6. Random High Schooler says:

Whoa. That must have been really creepy to find out. I for one would ask my parents if I could change rooms.

Most of my “supernatural experiences” are my own imagination. You know, if you’re lying alone in bed at night and you look at the basket on the bookshelf hard enough, you see something flicker or move away, or a shadow move away from the light. It’s usually my imagination working overtime. But that’s good; it’s where I get most of my story ideas: my imagination working overtime. 🙂

  7. I AM A TRAVLER says:

I know this is off subject but i am very dissapointed with the end of pendragon could u please write an alternete ending?

  8. Claire says:

Umm….i have a ghost of a cat in my house.
You always see a black cat run into a room, and you follow it and close the door. No matter how long you look for it, theres no cat there. Thats the only t hing close to paranormal lol.

  9. Random High Schooler says:

I AM A TRAVELER: Dude, you can’t just ask someone to write an alternate ending to an already published novel! I understand if it was disappointing, but that’s a lot to ask. Maybe you can try writing your own alternate ending?

  10. Swiffy says:

    @ I AM A TRAVELER

Wow! Can you get any ruder? I can’t believe you would actually write that on here!

  11. Swiffy says:

I haven’t had a supernatural experience, and don’t really plan to. I enjoy reading about them, though.

  12. Michael Thomas says:

I find myself making mini-horror-stories about any little noise I hear when the house is empty (aside from me) and dark. A true story that happened to me a while back was:

I was lying in my room with the light off but I had a lamp next to my bedside so I could study for an upcoming test in a course I was taking. I got out my book and just as I did, some papers on the other side of the room that were stacked up neatly and held down by a text book rustled a bit then floated about 5 feet across my room. I’m still unsure exactly how they did that, but what followed was even stranger. I went over to move the papers and I noticed my door was open (though I was sure I had closed it earlier) so I went over to shut it and out of the corner of my eye I saw the bathroom door open (my room is facing a corridor containing the door to the bathroom). I looked closer and saw the light was on! I knew every light in the house was shut off earlier, so when I approached the bathroom I got 2 feet before the light shut off all by itself! I never even entered the room!

Talk about freaky! I ran into my room and turned the T.V. on (for some reason that makes things less eerie) asap.

  13. James Olson says:

The other night I was at home, listening to music, alone. Then suddenly the lights started flickering. Not dying, but just flickering. Every light in the house. Then the tv started turning on and off, and the cable box starting flashing random numbers. I got freaked out, but the landline and the cell were both unresponsive…My car didn’t work. It was hailing out…

  14. Neko_chick says:

a few but only a couple made me almost want to run out of our house. one time a knife was thrown at me and once i woke up and i was siting up right with someone sitting on me (tht might have been a dream) and for a month or so every time i got out of the shower i would have like a slap hand mark on my chest. -__- i got the ghosts name. his name was Zebidia. no kidding. anyone who doesnt believe me thts ur problem

  15. Kevin says:

    @ Random High Schooler

I always do that too, like think something is there when i know its not, also There was this ghost show talking about Robert The doll, which was freaky(you can search it) , i always imagine i see it, and from a movie the Shining i always imagine i see a scary part from the movie that is not actually there

  16. Kevin says:

One time when my brother was home alone he said he was upstairs and the cabinet was opening and closing down stairs, he was so freaked out

  17. Kevin says:

This is not paranormal but just funny.
Ok so one time I was sick, just thinking me and my mom were home (I was was like 6 or 7) and my Mom says she hears noises like groaning but not that scary. Then she carries me around slowly looking for it and whe pick up rosemarys for good luck. Then we go to my room because that’s where the noise was and then whe go to my bed and my sister screams and scares me, it was pretty funny because i didnt know she was home

  18. Kevin says:

Once i was was having a dream and i usually wake up at like 7.30 or 7.00 and , in the dream a giant wave was coming towards me and right before it hit me i wake up (it was a weekend) by my self

I know that was not freaky in the slightest just thought it was cool

  19. chaz says:

once i herd my school was haunted and i investigated sudnely i felt clusterphobic and felt something grab somethig by his legs and i herd chains rattling

  20. Katie says:

I don’t know if this would count as happening to me, but we were in Seattle, and way back the streets were low, but they had to raise the streets/buildings/sidewalks because of the water levels. So now, there’s the “underground Seattle,” where you can go down, to where the sidewalks used to be. The basements of stores down there are what used to be store fronts. Anyway, we where on a tour down there, and it was supposed to be haunted, because people would accidentally fall into the built up, but not paved over sidewalks; into the big gaps. My brother used flash on his camera while we were down there to take a random picture of a wall, because he knew that anything can appear in pictures that can’t be seen by us. When were out of there, He came and showed me what he had taken. In the photo, was a swirling mist, not even translucent, rising in a cone shape. It’s creepy I went right past this ghost as we walked through the nearby doorway….

  21. Cassandra says:

I have a friend. Her name is Dakotah. Her house is haunted. We don’t know by what or whom, but I saw for myself one night. There is no way that someone could have faked this.

We were sitting in her front room watching Ghost Hunters International and taking. I was sitting on the floor, she on the cough opposite me. She suddenly jumped yelling, “Please tell me you saw that!” i turned to look where she was, and saw a fleeting red dot on a picture frame on the wall. “What was that?” I asked, standing up. I walked into the kitchen, confused. Staring at the opposite wall where the light first appeared, I saw what looked like a laser light bouncing off the windows and over the window pane. “Koda!” I yelled. She ran in. Together we called her mom, both staring at the red dot until it disappeared. “Did you see that?” we asked, while her mom shook her head. We explained what happened, and she believed it. After that, we sat in the front room, while Dakotah burnt lavender cones in the middle of the room, saying a silent prayer to her Goddess (She is Wiccan, I am not). Sitting there, we speculated that it couldn’t have come from outside, as I saw it on the window pane. Her mom couldn’t have done it, the house doesn’t have a laser light, and she seemed truly surprised by what we told her.

What was it that could manifest itself in such a way?

  22. Cassandra says:

    @ I AM A TRAVELER

Dude. Go somewhere else. Not this blog, and not here. Go.

  23. D.J. MacHale says:

Awesome stories. Once Morpheus Road comes out, I’ll write about the story in there that happened to me. Not sure if I should do it here or in the Spoiler section though.

  24. Cassandra says:

Maybe both. I mean, here people will want to talk about it as a supernatural experience. (the likeliness that such a thing could really happen, what it could have been, etc.) On the Spoilers board, people will want to relate it to Pendragon, or speculate as to what will happen next, or how it relates to the story.

Though you might want to confine it to the Spoilers board, so that those who don’t want it spoiled for them, but still want to talk about supernatural experiences can.

Just my take on it. =)

  25. FireGirl20 says:

Yes, I think. Because my karaoke machines light came on with out it being turned on!
    It was CREEPY! lol

  26. laithe says:

one of my supernatural occurences happened when I was in my house alone and no ones outside I begin to hear voices they are faint and low I remember i kept on hearing my name sort of being chanted it was freaky

  27. Kevin says:

i think the scariest things are old fashioned dolls they just freaks me out. Also if i hear a story about little kids voices when you are all alone that scares me to.(i know this is off topic so don’t start screaming at me k)

  28. zack says:

um yeah when i had my supernatural experiance i was sitting in the living room when the tv turned of and so i turned it back on and it worked for a while until i heard a noise so i looked away for a sec and then i looked back and my tv was off again and then from then whenever i looked away or shut my eyes it would shut off

  29. ~Pickle~ (Shmii/Kayla) says:

    I suggest the spoilers section.

I haven’t really had a super supernatural experience, but I’ve been freaked out by my imagination before. lol I sometimes like to use these ideas for writing, just like RHS.

But. One Halloween night, I was alone. There was a Vampire marathon on History Channel, so I turned that on and cut the lights. I managed to freak myself out a little. ^^ Maybe I’ll read MR in the dark. Ooooh! I like it.

  30. ~Pickle~ (Shmii/Kayla) says:

    (Sorry for the double post)

Oh yeah. I’ve heard that every high school has a phantom, at least in Utah Valley. My friend, who was on the stage crew at Lone Peak, has told me some stories. I don’t remember the phantom’s name… anyway. Eric was sure he turned the volume down before turning off the system, so they could listen to their instructor. When he goes to turn the system back on, the volume controls were all at maximum, and the blast of noise freaked them out. They had only looked away for a moment, and neither Eric nor the other kid he was with saw how it could have happened.

  31. Xaivier says:

The most supernatural experience I ever had was when I was leaning by my car waiting for my parents. A cold blast of air actually went through me, and it hit the car with a BANG!!!! It is a true story, and I am still freaked out about it.

  32. laserg8 says:

this is freaky 1 time i went 2 take a shower and the windows steamed i thought ok so i watched tv 4 say about 40 minutes wen i came back there was a little thing in the window it said HELLO

  33. Edward Worton N.J. says:

One time, about three or four years ago, my mom was REALLY sick with food poisoning. i was afraid to sleep alone so i asked my mom to lie down in bed with me until i fell asleep. so my mom fell asleep before me and i decided to say a prayer so she would get better. i did this because my mom NEVER gets sick. i mean NEVER not even a cold. in the thirteen years i’ve been alive, she has only been sick twice. so anyway i said the prayer and went to sleep. in the middle of the night, i woke up and i was facing the opposite wall of my room. in the middle of my room was a man in a suit with a cane and wearing a fedora. he was sitting down with his legs crossed. i couldn’t make out his face because the fedora was pulled down and a shadow was being cast over his face. he looked transparent. i could see the wall behind him but it was blurry, like the man was a mist. he looked like one of those old photos. you know the “sepia” ones? so i just look at him for a few seconds and i remember that i saw on this show that if a ghost appears to you, it needs you. so i asked him “who are you?” and he disappeared along with the chair. and if that wasn’t weird enough, i recognized the man somehow. even with the fedora pulled over his eyes, i feel like i knew him somehow. the way he sat. his body language was eerily familiar. i still to this day can’t figure out who he is. then, when i turned to tell my mom what had happened, there was a woman standing over her and she seemed to be blessing her or something. then i just fell asleep. it was like i wasn’t supposed to see the man and the woman so i fainted. i totally just blanked. next thing i know, it’s the next morning. and in the middle of my room there is a wooden chair and a cane, and my mom’s food poisoning is gone. any ideas on who the man or the woman were/are? i feel like the man’s identity is important. please help.

  34. Edward Worton N.J. says:

Another time, i woke up in the middle of the night and walked to my parent’s room. when i walked in, a woman ran THROUGH me and to my parents’ bed-side table. she hunched over the table and leaned on it with her hands while yelling “NO! NO! PLEASE NO! NO! HELP ME! PLEASE! NNNNNNNOOOOOOO!!!!!!!” and then her head jerked back in pain and she faded. i woke my parents and asked them if they had seen the woman, but they didn’t know what i was talking about. i learned a week later that before we lived in this house, it had burned down. my parents told me that no one died in the fire but i live in a really bad part of town. every week there is a cop car on the street outside our house arresting someone or pulling them over. once a kid got killed by a drunk driver. another time, a drunk driver hit someone which caused a chain reaction causing a driver to swerve off the road and hit a tree in our front yard, not five feet from our house. so i think it’s very likely that someone could have been murdered in my house even before the previous owners moved in.

  35. laithe says:

    Edward worton N.J.
are those stories true ( not accusing you of any thing just wondering ) cause if so that is freaky. I would want to leave the neighberhood if it were me

  36. ~Pickle~ (Shmii/Kayla) says:

    @Edward:

That’s intense. Maybe the ghosts were your ancestors? That’s my best guess. Try digging in your family history. You never know what you can find.

  37. Carter M.J. says:

I was at my grandma’s house a few months ago.It was kinda late and i was very sleepy. i heard what i thought was my grandma walking upstairs. I got up and walked upstairs. i saw her standing there. She went back to her room and closed the door. I said to her ” why are you still up” she didn’t answer so i opened the door and saw her asleep on her bed. She woke up and asked why are you here. i told her i thought i saw her, and she said she had been asleep. i didn’t tell her that i knew someone was up there, so i didn’t scare her. i think it was my grandpa who died a while back because she had been having a dream with him in it while it had been happening.

  38. Kevin says:

This is off topic, but its a little freaky

Ok so i had a dream ( I was looking at the people from the dream- first person, but i wasn’t really there) that these woman were getting ready for a wedding. Like putting there dress on and i watched it , its a little blurry memory, but it was really weird because in the dream i went on youtube and the video was there and i clicked on it and watched it. I had NO idea who the heck the people were. Also my mom watches those wedding shows and i watched one while walking through the room with people getting ready for a wedding, but that was a WHILE back. I only have dreams of stuff that happened a lot earlier. Like if i was watching a show with an alien in it I would have a dream about an alien. this dram was so weird because it seemed extremely real, with real dialogue and drama. I usually don’t remember my dreams but i will remember this forever.

  39. Lebon says:

I think i know where this whole story about being hunted and haunted by ghosts and and having supernatural experience is leading to. But still am not sure, which makes me want to read the book more. CANT WAIT. CAN THE COUNTDOWN GO ANY FASTER?

  40. Creighton says:

The only paranormal experience I have … experienced, was when I was about 12 or 13. I was going up the steps to my apartment at the time and when I turned the corner I saw my grandmother (who has been bead for about three years at the time.) The strangest thing about it was that I saw just her head- floating in midair … staring back at me. Weird.
I have yet to experience doors flying shut, covers being blown off my bed, creaking, knocking, etc. Bummer.

  41. Edward Worton N.J. says:

    laithe

Yes. All of the stories are true. And yes i’ve asked to move. We are waiting until I go to High School so we can move closer. Luckily, that is next year. this house freaks me out. once, i heard someone calling my name from under my bed. another time, i heard the boxes in my attic moving around in the middle of the night.

  42. Edward Worton N.J. says:

    ~Pickle~ (Shmii/Kayla)

Maybe i should look up my family tree. i’m adopted so who knows what wierd things i could find. I know I’m 1/8 Native American and they have a lot of links to ghosts and myths so. . . Interesting idea. i’ve never heard stories of ancestors haunting their decendents. but who knows…

  43. solara traveler says:

this is off subjest but is morfius rode a series

  44. Yunis says:

    No, its a trilogy!

  45. Arielle says:

i have had alot of supernatural experiences but there was one that scared me the most.
It was a few years back and i was in california. I was sharing a room with my step brother and he was sleeping on the floor. I couldnt sleep because i had this weird feeling that i was being watched. i layed there awake when i heard noises in the kitchen like someone was looking for something and i that creeped me out. I thought that maybe i should try to sleep so i wouldnt be scared and then i heard some one say my name three times but no one was there…..i didnt sleep at all that night

  46. kimmie says:

This was a random creepy thing. One night me and my mom were eating dinner in the dining room before my dad came home from work and we were both sitting on the side of the table facing the doorway to the kitchen. We were looking down at our plates eating. I heard a noise and i thought i saw something move in the kitchen doorway, because it looked like dad had walked in the room. well, he wasnt there so i just kept eating, thinking, “that was weird…” then about two minutes later i asked mom, “ummm did you just see dad walk into the room?” and she was like “omg yes! i thought he did too!” but she hadnt said anything either. Then fifteen minutes later dad came home. It was so weird that we both thought we saw him walk into the room, especially since my mom is very level headed and thought it was creepy…..

  47. Edward Worton N.J. says:

    @kimmie

    Woah. that’s really weird

  48. A.P Michael says:

I’ve never really had like direct contact with something supernatural, but my best friend’s house is haunted, and i totally believe it… but i don’t know if this actually counts but i always feel like something is watching me, and then it gets really quiet (which at my house it never is) but it’s not like everyone just stops talking but like i can’t hear them…

Don’t know if that counts but yeah…

  49. Mikayla says:

    (this is my nana;s story)

once she was at a chinese buffet with my aunt, and the meal was good…then they started hearing scary cat noises. like, zombie kitty. we havent eaten chinese since.

  50. Edward Worton N.J. says:

I live a block away from this abandoned house. and a year ago, my friend who lives next door to it looked out his bedroom window and saw a chair propped up to the window. the cops came but there was no one in there. then, yesterday, the front door was open. the door doesn’t have a knob, and i’ve tried to get it open many times. we’ve heard footsteps coming from the house and my friend and i have both seen a face inside the house.
