Pendragon Movie Blog

I had a request to start a blog where you could weigh in on thoughts about a movie based on The Merchant of Death and to discuss casting. This isn’t to say that a movie is imminent. It isn’t. But I’m working with some folks to develop one now, so you never know. (Just don’t hold your breath!)

So, here’s the blog. Have fun.

If I could I would audition to play as Bobby Pendragon if they made it into a series.

  2. John says:

This is the only series i have read in under a week completely.

  3. CourtneyChetwynde13 says:

Haven’t been on here in forever. Just a random post. I think I’m going to read the series again because I miss it so much. I really wish more people knew about it however it’s kind of cool because in a way it’s a little secret. Also does anyone know of any cool 90’s sci-fi books. I’m looking for something similar to Feed by M.T Anderson (if you haven’t read that I recommend it).

  4. Maddy says:

I think it would be AWESOME if you produced the Pendragon series into a movie… Everytime i read the books I’m thinking about this… Please make it into a movie!

  5. Manny says:

Is the idea of s movie still in the works?

  6. Manny says:

I recently saw a hidden gem from 2013. A movie called The Kings Of Summer. Super funny coming of age tale. I thought Nick Robinson seemed like an interesting choice for bobby.

I don’t know how old he is now though.

  7. Richard says:

I love the pendragon series. I’ve read all the books 5 times and have listened to the audio books even more than that. I personally feel if done right it could be as big as Harry Potter. 10 movies are a lot to think about but I think it would be amazing. Directors should stop wasting there time on movies like Enders game. This is an amazing opportunity. I could see a flume ride in Disney now. Think of all the $ that could be made.

  8. EFox says:

Man, it would be awesome if this was made into a movie series and I think even better if it were made into a TV series. I recently finished the series and am a huge fan

Professor Wolff — The people on the cocuehs are using their brains in order to experience and affect what’s happening in the virtual reality. It’s as if their minds become computer programs that can interact with the computer programs that are producing the virtual reality. Most of the programs they encounter are run by the machine overlords, but some appear to be rogue programs serving their own or even human interests (like that Keymaker character).People like Neo (or the programs generated by people like Neo) are very good at messing with the other programs in virtual reality, causing all kinds of havoc in the virtual world (i.e. on the computers in the real world that are running the virtual world). What I’ve never understood is why or how a person in the real world can be mightily affected by what happens while visiting the virtual world. How can their experiences in the virtual world kill them in the real world? Is it because the virtual, computer-based world seems so real that their brains can’t take the stress of being killed in the virtual world? So they die in reality? And why do they have to find a special telephone to stop experiencing virtual reality? Can’t their colleagues in the real world just unplug them? I hope this helps. I wouldn’t dream of trying to explain all the mumbo jumbo that is discussed in the virtual world involving eternal recurrence and free will. That might not be explainable.

Please Please Please make a Pendragon movie!!!!!! I would love it!!!!!!! I always wanted to see a pendragon film because the book is so gooooooooood that I always think that the movie will totally be awesome!!!!!!!

  12. OpposeSaintDane says:

A Pendragon Movie would be awesome, also the whole entire series as a movie. A movie based on this book could bring up imaginative minds, and it would be so cool to see a movie made flume, so please push on the idea of making a Pendragon movie.
    – A fan

  13. Zach says:

Does anyone besides me think that Jason Issacs, the actor who portrayed Lucius Malfoy in the Harry Potter films, would be the perfect actor to play Saint Dane in a Pendragon movie series?

  14. Nevva Winter says:

  21. Marshall Seaver says:

I would really love it if there was a movie on Morpheus road!!!

  22. Marshall Seaver says:

are you planning to do a movie on Morpheus road D.J. MacHale??

  23. Spader says:

I really think that this could work out to be an excellent movie! If done correctly, it could easily be just as big as any other movie franchise out there. The plot is interesting and different enough to appeal to a wide audience, even those new to the Pendragon series. The advanced CGI technology of today could really help to bring the magic to life in these books (flume rides especially) that many of us have pictured in our minds, but would love to see on screen. The message behind the books is great as well, so we will not get a mindless action-packed movie, but rather one with depth and substance. All around, this could be the next Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings.

    Please make this happen!!

  24. Acolyte says:

    Well said Spader 🙂

  25. Robert Pendragon. says:

@robertpendragon omg congrats and good luck!
it’s my last year of high school and well…I’m stressed out 🙁 need to study a lot to get into a good university

  29. Simon says:

I don’t care about anything else, but Dwayne Johnson needs to be uncle press.

  30. Deandra says:

These pieces really set a standard in the inrdutsy.

  31. Loor says:

Pendragon was an escape into a better reality for many teenagers. D.J really invited many of us to travel through space and time into worlds of beauty and wonder. Making a movie, or better yet a series of movies would bring this magical fantasy into reality. Bobby, Loor, Uncle Press, all personalities all worlds come true. I hope that one day, it becomes reality.

  32. Dustin says:

I read these books in grade school, still to this day one of my favorite series. PLEASE make a movie, HBO series, or Netlfix series. I’ll gladly audition for the role of Bobby! 🙂

  33. Mark says:

I NEED a Pendragon movie. I NEED IT!!!!!!!!!!
Please make it a movie I need to see it i love the books and I really want to see it because I would like to see it on the big screen and it would be really cool. I would love if you make the movie. It would be the next Harry Potter (at least to me) and it would bring a lot of attention to the series.

  34. Someone says:

If you do make a movie, I volunteer to make some of the soundtrack.

  35. Ed says:

Any updates If there will ever be a movie

  36. Amber says:

I’m not sure but Saint Dane has always struck me as gay. I would love to see a movie though. I started reading the books over ten years ago and had tryed convincing Mr. MacHale to just think about it. I hope I see one soon.
    Hobi-ho

  37. Sophie says:

  38. Jake Windrow says:

    WE NEED THIS

  39. The other marina says:

The Pendragon series is by far one of my favorites, I was so sad when I finished it I felt like the same sadness when Bobby defeated SD.( Well… not exactly but you get the point) I personally thought this series was better than Harry Potter.I would love to see these books come to life, mainly because of the characters. I’ve gotten so into them but they keep changing!I agree with the others though, if your going to make a movie take your time. Cause, if you can find the right actors to make this series come to life this series is going to get some serious fans! I’m not saying there aren’t a lot of fans out there, but I seriously think a lot of scenes would make certain parts that people are confused about make more sense.Whatever you do if you can’t find the right people that wouldn’t change everything I wouldn’t even bother doing it, trust me, people I’ve read books then watched the movie and some, not saying all, have completely ruined the series. Not saying that will happen with Pendragon though and I honestly wouldn’t worry about the length, you can always make a tv show or combine the books between the years, like Harry Potter.

  40. The other marina says:

    Or did he? Muahahaha!

  41. The other marina says:

Could someone please join me so I’m not the only one writing on here. Anyway look up Sam Ashe Arnold, I seriously think he reminds me of Bobby Pendragon, and he’s pretty young.

  42. Wizqlifa says:

Netflix should do a series on Pendragon. That would do it justice.
