The Merchant of Death was first published in 2002 . . . a lifetime ago. So we thought it was time to spiff up the Pendragon series and create new covers.  Over the next year or so, all ten books will come out with the new design. (Paperback only. The hardcovers won’t change)

i think the covers that show multiple pictures were really cool, like in the blue Reality Bug cover you see bobby, aja killian, the lifelight pyramid etc… don’t know if they publish them anymore but i loved ’em. very detailed and give a good idea of the territory. Sean Gillis, i hope so much that the pendragon books will be made into movies! my wish to DJ 😀

The eyes in the new cover are, for me, uhm…. i really don’t know. (mystery for new readers! ) The old cover was clearly a klee’s, though.

I think the cover of the Pendragon series is cool. The covers saw Bobby get older and older with each book.

I personally like to have the characters shown on the covers. The new covers are too much like the ones from the Twilight Series.

the eyes on black water are either klee eyes or some jewel shaped like eyes. look at them, they look like diamonds. btw tangs have red eyes.

i like the knew covers but my favorite book cover is the original cover for book three:the never war because he looks cool but i think that the old cover for rivers of zaada bobbys nose looked weird but loor did look fantastisc she was outstanding

I had a dream about Pendragon!
In my dream it was Courtny, Bobby, and I in my school and Saint Dane was running after us and we hid in the bathroom and he like blew it up… so we traveled to another teritory but instead of going through flumes we went from a elevator. So we ran into the elevator and bobby pressed the wrong button and landed us right in Saloria! Then we heard Saint Danes laughter come from all over the room and we were looking around to see where it came from and he was just standing there… then he disapeared and I woke up… 🙁
I bet I’m not the only one who had Pendragon dreams!!

The new covers are awful. I thought the old ones were really cool giving you a glimpse of the characters and the territory. The new ones are just strange they look like little emblems and jewels. When I see a book and it has a cool cover it draws me in much faster than other books. Please go back to the old ones much better.

DJ i LOVE the new covers. The one I actually didn’t like was The Pilgrims of Rayne (which i finished that one not even 5 minutes ago :D) i had a pendragon dream once.
I was fighting Saint Dane from his home territory (which i don’t know yet 🙁 aw man) and I tried to kill him multiple times but he just stood there. I yelled “FIGHT BACK YOU DIRTY LITTLE BASTARD!” then he striked me in the face with a tang knife and then i woke up.

i wan fighting a zhou with loor (who looked like rihanna) when i chopped off its head. then it grew like 15 more n i was like WAT THE HELL!!!:@:@:@.
n then loor came n chopped off all n none grew bak n i was like WWHHAAT TTHHEE HHEEELLLLLL!!!!!!!!!!!:@:@:@:@:@:@. but then she gave me batu armor and said lets go to pelle’s party n wen we went pelle was saint dane with super big eyes n we saw spader and gunny n they were all dressed like chickens n all of a sudden a mirror dropped in front of me n i was saint dane n i went muahahahahaha n got shot with a quillan gold gun by james bond n then i woke up n looked in a mirror n was saint dane again n then i really woke up n just in case went to look in a mirror( i was me not saint dane by the way)

The older covers are better. (I came to this conclusion by looking at The Lost City of Faar and Merchant of Death. OMG I also had a pendragon dream. I read book 11 (not real by the way) and went to the territory of Irrath It is a mix of Cloral and Ibara
PS I just started Killian’s journal 12 and lost my book that i got from the LIBRARY. I’m freakin’ out here.

No wait, I change my mind. From the first book to the Quilian Games I have the covers with Bobby’s face only on the front. Book eight Had his face on the side. Then 9 and 10 were in hard cover. I love the covers with the faces on the side but I cant stand the newest ones. They dont say any thing about the book.

I like the old covers as well and agree with everything the people who also like them have said. btw im on the six book and Ive read all the backs of the books and from what they say the series doesnt take them through all 10 territories like I hoped because of ten books and all but I guess Ill just have to read….

Call me a stick in the mud but I like the old covers, you get to see the characters and you get to see Bobby as he grows and changes. With the old covers you could get a feel for what goes on in the book, with the new ones, you can only name the connection after you’ve read it.

I had the most Retarted Pendragon dream i…..i dreamt i was playing counter strike and i fell asleep than i woke up in COUNTER STRIKE as BOBBY and i was Traveller and saint dane was a counter Traveller i had loor Vo Spader Aja Kasha and Patricck on my teami and i Vsed Saintdane, Nevva, Telleo and Mellos and we built Turrets????? which was wrid and i noob tubed saint dane like twice Then got a shotgun and killed him every time he respawned ……. than i woke up slobbering all over my laptop wiht the words COUNTER STRIKE: SOURCE on the screen.

The new covers are somewhat symbolic but seem like they have nothing to do with the books. They are pretty cool looking, (like the one for Veelox) but i like the old book covers better. I like seeing how Bobby got older and seeing glimpses from the territories. At least the old ones aren’t gone forever.

well sort of…
i was reading Soldiers of Halla, which i had got on a field trip to the inner harbor in Baltimore, and it was like 2am, i was supposed to be in bed but i couldn’t stop reading, and finally i fell asleep while reading and i was at the part where Press was telling Bobby about Slora (sorry if i spelled it wrong) and i had this really weird dream where i was like on Slora, but i was with all the other travelers, and i was from this 11th territory (i don’t know what it was called) but it was like one Saint Dane created and it was all evil and then all the travelers were trying to kill me, but i showed them my ring saying that i was a traveler, and then i tried to stab saint dane with a tang knife made of Tak (don’t ask, all my dreams are really weird)

DJ, i like the new covers, but i think that’s only because I’ve read all the books so i can appretiate what the new pics mean. when i started 10,000 years ago on “The Merchant of Death”…i liked to be able to see Bobby and the territory and watch Bobby age through the books. The old covers were really detailed and you could look in Bobby’s eyes in the 1sr book and see a kid who’s seen terrible things and maybe…just maybe..you can see the fear in his eyes. then in the 10th one his eyes still look the same, but the fear is replaced with courage and knowledge. just my personal feelings, i would like the old covers better if i was reading it 4 the 1st time today. 😉

I’m not sure what the new covers now are, but the ones that are hardcover where the first one has Bobby and the Flume behind him, you know, those are very inconsistent. in the first one his eyes are green-brown I can’t tell they’re too small in the 2nd one, in the 3rd one they are green-brown, in the 4th one they’re dark brown, 5th-green, 6th-brown, 7th-brown, 8th-green-blue, 9th golden brown, 10th-brown. i think that was a screw up on the designers part . . . his hair keeps changing too . . .

I think they are much better then the other ones! I like the mystery they create and they way they make you want to read the story. It makes it more modern looking, and appeals more to those who still pick books by their covers (shame on them!)

also Jessica. i don’t judge a book by it’s cover. i just think that (since i’ve already read them) they don’t give you the feel that you really REALLY want to read them and me when i first saw them i was like, WHAT??? This can’t be the Pendragon books. they’re sooooo diffferent!! they don’t even look like they could be the books if you take the title of the front page.
