The Merchant of Death was first published in 2002 . . . a lifetime ago. So we thought it was time to spiff up the Pendragon series and create new covers.  Over the next year or so, all ten books will come out with the new design. (Paperback only. The hardcovers won’t change)

I love the new covers. They give the book more……. pop. You can tell a lot about a book by it’s cover. However there are some books that I like the old cover better.
Book 1: Old cover
Book 2: new
book 3: old
book 4: old
book 5 TIE
book 6 new
book 7 old
book 8 new
book 9 new
book 10 old
out of all th enew covers my favorite one is the new book 8.

One thing that was nice about the old covers was how you could see what the main character looked like. But all in all I like the news ones better, they have a very nice feel to them. Its a shame they can’t be hardcovers.

I have read all but the tenth so, planning on buying that soon. I have looked up the cover, though. I like to take a glance for myself. I think I prefer all of the old covers over the new. The paper of the old covers feels legit, unlike the cheap quality of the new ones. I own 1-9, 1-6 are the old, and 7-9 are new. I just feel better when I pickup a book with the old covers. I also like seeing the characters, though. You always have the image in your head of how you view each character but, seeing someone else’s perspective with such creativity is luxurious.

I like the old ones better because it allowed you to see the age progression of Bobby and how some of the other characters look. Not to mention a little idea of the territory that they are dealing with. The new ones aren’t bad and I like that I now know I was partially wrong in how the ring looks. But while they are more “modern” they don’t hold the same feel in my opinion comparatively.

I like the older ones because they tell a little more about the book. Maybe then people wont judge a book by its cover, if its an awesome cover. 😉

i love the old covers, i like how on the spine there is the different colors on the top. it looks cool to have all the books with the colors together like that. however i will say the 9th cover looks bad ass! i am currently getting the 9th and 10th from amazon today, i am honestly hoping i get the original covers just to keep the trend on my book case going but if i get the new covers i wont complain.

Heck, I thought the old ones were fine. But I think the new covers for a few (like 4 and 5) are pretty sweet. Not so much with the new one for 10 (because the old one was amazing, it had saint dane).

I definitely prefer the old covers, especially the one with Eelong, that cover was always my favorite. The new one just looks….odd. Glad I already have the complete set of the old ones. Only one that I like better is the first one, in the old cover Bobby’s hair looks green.

I’m on Raven Rise it’s super good. I really hope they make a movie out of this series because its such a good series. In my opinion better than the hunger games. But at the same time they might ruin the movie like they did with Percy Jackson. But idk. Who do you think would be good actor choices?

All of the old covers are INFINITELY better than the new covers! The art work is really good, don’t get me wrong, but I think the originals are best and they give a image of Bobby as he goes through this adventure. Shows how he ages and gives insight to some of the scenes from the territories he is on in each book. I am EXTRAORDINARILY GRATEFUL that I bought the series earlier before they changed the covers because that “personal” touch to the territories and the progression of Bobby is missing in the new covers.

Wow… I like both of the cover designs, but I have to say that the new ones are way cool. I like the fact that the new covers don’t have a picture of the people on it, because isn’t it much more fun to imagine what they look like rather than have a picture pre-made for you? That is one of the main reasons I like novels.

The only thing I think is weird is how Bobby has blue eyes in the cover of ‘Pilgrims of Ryane”. At first I thought it had something to do with him getting new traveler powers, like SD has those blue eyes too, but their brown on the other books. I actually really like the new covers much better except I haven’t seen the one for ‘The rivers of Zadaa’ yet.
